Jitterbugs (III)

William H. Johnson's Jitterbugs (III) immediately caught my eye the first time I saw it. From the sharp contrast, jutting angles, and apparent joy of the subjects, I was hooked. Since then, I've become a big fan of Johnson's - his use of color and angles is magnificent and the emotion he is able to depict with only partial faces never fails to impress. I am convinced that his work, this one in particular, inspired the artists who crafter the "Almost There" sequence from The Princess and the Frog.
