Resume

I have worked in cultural and tourist attractions for over 20 years. My journey through the cultural and tourism sectors has included stints as the director of a small historic site, a Cast Member at Walt Disney World, and serving in a variety of leadership roles at science museums, a children's museum, a corporate museum, and an aquarium.

I create innovative and effective campaigns and programs that drive audience behavior through exceptional interactive, social, digital, print, and experience-based content. As a results-driven leader with an enthusiasm for mission-based work, I work across departments and organizations to craft engaging narratives and program strategies to support the organizational vision, values, and goals.

In my work I strive for improvement in diversity, equity, accessibility, inclusion, transparency, and environmental initiatives. I pride myself on forging loyal, diverse, collaborative teams that work to each other’s strengths to accomplish goals. My passion is turning mission statements into action through creative, tangible experiences that put your audience at the center of your brand and inspire them to pursue a lifelong interest in your mission.

When I'm not working, I live in Delco with my wife and two amazing kiddos and enjoy camping, hiking, photography, traveling, live music and theater, rooting for the underdog, karaoke, playing guitar, matinees at the movie theater, word games, and I'm probably the biggest Muppet fan you'll ever meet.

Skill Highlights

  • Knowledge Management

    • Ensuring my team is well-informed and aware is a top priority of mine. In each institution I’ve worked at, I have developed programs and initiatives focused on internal communications. I have created internal websites/intranet tools, leveraged Claude AI for basic daily communications, published recurring newsletters, and built “source of truth” tools with Google Sheets when there was no budget for investing in knowledge management software.

  • Strategic Organization

    • In my career, I have had to thrive in unstructured environments in which organization was not a priority. Because of these experiences, I have become adept at building structure, streamlining communication, and keeping large teams on tight schedules. This has included coordinating virtual meetings with attendees on multiple continents, creating daily schedules for a department of 80, and reorganizing and creating an inventory for the Franklin Institute’s education department, a task that spanned six storage rooms and two levels of stacks.

  • Change Management

    • In my work, I prioritize creating a collaborative, cross-functional environment in which change and growth is a welcome and necessary part of the DNA of the organization for which I work. I am comfortable both managing up and communicating on behalf of leadership as we work together to enact meaningful change. From completely reinventing the Museum of Elfreth’s Alley from a typical house museum to the

  • Training

    • Most problems I have encountered in my career have stemmed from a lack of training, so I center robust and dynamic training programs in my work. An informed team is better equipped to tackle the work of achieving the organization’s mission, and I ensure that training modules reference the mission wherever possible. In my last two roles, that involved discussions about combatting the climate and biodiversity crises alongside service standards. At a place like Please Touch Museum, it meant incorporating play into all learning opportunities.

  • Talent Development

    • I have prioritized talent development throughout my career. As a result of my coaching, former staff have advanced to roles such as Design Coordinator at Google Developer Studio, Director of Public Programs at Historic Huguenot Street, and Managing Officer of the Philadelphia Science Festival, among others.

  • Program Development

    • I have created and implemented a variety of educational programs to attract new audiences and engage existing audiences in new ways. This includes, among others, adult programming at the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science and Edelman Fossil Park, an after-school program at the Franklin Institute, digital programs for Wolf Performing Arts Center, and internal programs designed for staff engagement at the Please Touch Museum.
